The Downtown St. John's Pedestrian Mall is back for the Summer!
With our gift shop located in the middle of it all, we wanted to share what you need to know about this exciting development and how it impacts us as a gift shop and bus tour operator.
Hours of Operation
The pedestrian mall is back until September 7th, 2026, from noon to 10:00pm daily. Water Street between Adelaide Street and Prescott Street buzzes with foot traffic. There are pop-up events and outdoor markets scheduled and a new activity zone planned for this summer too! Find more info on the City's Guide to the Downtown Pedestrian Mall.
Road Closures and Navigation
Each morning, vehicle traffic on Water Street between Adelaide Street and Prescott Street is restricted to commercial vehicles and emergency responders. If you're driving downtown, keep in mind that all other traffic is rerouted to Harbor Drive and Duckworth Street.
Parking Availability
Paid on-street parking, including accessible parking, is still available during the duration of the pedestrian mall. There are also a few parking garages downtown that are within walking distance to the pedestrian mall. Please follow all the posted signage to ensure you park correctly. Impact on Our Daily Bus Tours
While we can no longer drive on Water Street during the pedestrian mall, our minibuses are always close to our gift shop and main meeting location for tour departures. Check in with our staff and our tour guides will lead the way to the tour bus.
Whether you're a longtime resident or visiting for the first time, the pedestrian mall represents a wonderful opportunity to connect with downtown St. John's in a new way. With even more scheduled events, and a brand new activity zone, we're excited to be located within the pedestrian mall and the heart of historic downtown St. John's.
